A Bit of Background
The Winchester Veterans Organizations are compromised of the Winchester American Legion Post 442 and Winchester VFW Post 11524. Winchester also has a Sons of The American Legion as well as an American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to those great organizations, several community members have organized a committee to renew and revitalize the Scott County Veterans' Memorial in Winchester.
The American Legion Post 442 owns a building which can accommodate anything from formal functions such as a Wedding Dinner to an informal Family Reunion or Class Reunion. The Legion is positioned in the heart of Winchester next to local bars and restaurants.
The Combined Organizations host multiple events throughout the year, a Veterans' Ball, Block Party, cookouts, and a newly formed Race With Veterans. With this website we hope you can sign up, donate, or sponsor, directly through our webpage.
What We Do
Community Outreach
The Winchester Veterans Organizations have always been a staple of our community, from Burgoos, Dinners, Bingo, Parades, to Honor and Color Guards. Today, we are carrying on most of those great traditions while also becoming more youthful and rebranding to become embedded back into the Scott County community. With our most recent initiatives, we are hosting events centered not only on the veteran and their contribution to the community, but giving back to the community by hosting events that benefit our community businesses and events that support education for things like Suicide Prevention, of which 22 veterans a day take their lives.
